A driver is hospitalized in Wichita after his pickup crashed into a building belonging to the Ellinwood Fire Department.
The crash was reported around midnight Tuesday night, as a 2005 Chevy Silverado went off a city street and crashed into the east wall of the Fire Department’s south building at high speed. Crews put a fire out in the pickup and got the driver out, and he was flown by air ambulance to a Wichita hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators said excessive speed was a factor in the crash. Two fire trucks were totaled in the crash.
