The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on U.S. Highway 54 in Kiowa County.
Two semis collided near Wellsford around 9 a.m. Wednesday. Three people were killed. The Kansas Highway Patrol said both semis caught fire. One was empty and the other was carrying pork products. Highway 54 was closed for much of the day but it was reopened to traffic late in the afternoon. The names of the victims have not been released.
